First Look: Andrea Doria

The iconic Italian liner, Andrea Doria as modelled for GRAND VOYAGE by Matteo

Matteo, 3D modeller extraordinaire, has been hard at work readying Andrea Doria for including in Grand Voyage after release. As you can see, the ship is in a very nice state already but we have a long way to go!

We decided to work on Andrea Doria for a few reasons, not least because she is one of the most famous ships in recent history and was created in Matteo's mother nation but because the story of her life and death is a fascinating glimpse into a very interesting time and place.

After doors and ladders on the ship’s promenade decks gave passengers convenient access to rooms and spaces above and below.

Italy's shipbuilding capabilities were badly ravaged during the War and yet less than a decade later they were constructing such floating palaces as Andrea Doria. The unique 'Doria experience will teach players about this bit of history as well as what it was like to sail on this beautiful ship.
